After the Army, Nicholas moved to Las Vegas and became a professional poker player. His decision to move was directly influenced by the 2011 dismantling of online poker in the United States, an unfortunate event known as Black Friday within the poker community. Holy Fire

On this day, after reading 1Samuel 7:3 and obeying the leading of the Lord given to him through that verse, Nicholas had an extended supernatural experience that changed him forever and altered the course of his life. Words consistently fail him in the attempt to convey the fullness of that event. As such, he tends to believe that the language necessary to adequately relay the story does not currently exist. However, in his search to find someone with a relatable account, he believes a similar experience did occur to Blaise Pascal in November of 1654.

Counting the Cost

Nicholas spent over a year in seclusion to fathom the complexities of his supernatural experience. A portion of that time was spent contemplating an appropriate response in light of the event itself. Ultimately, having counted the cost, he chose to completely dedicate himself to advancing the kingdom of God in multifaceted ways and becoming an exemplary ambassador of Jesus Christ.

It can best be described as a Christian "small group" (10-20 people) that is periodically attended by the members of a larger group (40-50 people). Nicholas joined the group in late 2018, and in early 2020, the men who comprise it asked him to lead them for an extended period of time.
